I was sure legacy games were just a cash grab until my group finished 'Charterstone'
For a long time, I thought the whole 'permanently change the board' thing was a trick to make you buy it again. Then my regular group in Tacoma played through the full Charterstone campaign over about three months. Watching the town we built evolve from game to game, with our dumb inside jokes written on the cards, completely changed my mind. The legacy mechanics created a story that a normal boxed game just can't match. Has anyone else had a game type they wrote off that actually won them over?

Totally get that feeling. My nephew talked me into trying a legacy game last year and I was so wrong. It really does feel like you're building something special together.

Same with deck builders for me.

My buddy Mark bought a used copy of that Star Wars deck builder. He found a note tucked in the box from the last owners, a couple who played it on their first date. Now the game has this whole backstory for him.
