Heard a guy at the game store say he only plays with 'serious gamers' now.
He was telling the clerk he won't even teach new people anymore. Said it's a waste of his time. Does that attitude ruin the hobby for anyone else?

My buddy tried to get into a war game last year. A veteran player at the shop spent two hours teaching him the rules, even bought him a coffee. That guy said seeing it click for a new person was the best part of his week. Makes the other attitude seem pretty sad.

Ever notice how the best people in any hobby are always the ones who love teaching it? Like, gatekeeping just means you're scared someone might be better than you.

ellis.victor said that veteran player thought seeing it click was the best part of his week. That's the thing, right? It's not just games. I see this everywhere now. People hoard their knowledge like it's a limited resource. They forget someone took the time to teach them once too.
