Appreciation post: My game group tried a silent playthrough of Root

We played a full game of Root last week with no talking allowed, just to see if it changed the vibe. I was the Marquise de Cat and honestly, it made me focus on the board state way more than usual. By the end, I had built two more sawmills than I normally would because I wasn't distracted by table talk. Has anyone else tried a quiet game night with a heavy strategy title?

Honestly that sounds like a total drag to me. The table talk and messing with each other is half the fun of a game like Root. Taking that out just turns it into a boring math puzzle.

That Twilight Imperium idea from spencer_sanchez67 is wild. I might try a quiet round of Scythe next week to really focus on my engine.

Huh, a gaming blog I read mentioned trying this with Twilight Imperium. Sounds like a neat way to cut out the meta-game.
