Rant: the donut tutorial is not the only way to learn Blender and I'm tired of pretending it is
Every newbie thread I open says start with the Blender Guru donut, and when I tried it last month I spent 4 hours on sprinkles and learned nothing about modeling. I switched to building a dumb little coffee mug from a cylinder and actually figured out edit mode, bevels, and saving files in one evening. Did anyone else skip the donut and learn better from just making a boring object, or am I the odd one out here?
Skip the tutorials and just pick a random object on your desk to model. The donut teaches you sprinkles, not modeling, and a mug forces you to learn loops and bevels for real. Keep making boring stuff until the basics stick, then go back to fancy projects.
