My first donut render had 40,000 triangles because I never checked the poly count
I started Blender about 6 weeks ago and my first project was a simple pink donut. I kept adding subdivisions and tiny details without looking at the bottom of the screen, and by the time I tried to animate it, my laptop fan sounded like a hair dryer. A guy in a Discord server told me to switch on statistics in the viewport overlay, and my jaw hit the floor when I saw 40,000 tris on a donut. Now I check that number before every render. Does anyone else ignore the poly count until their machine starts choking, or is that just a me problem?
