I finally finished the donut tutorial and now I'm scared of the next step, is this normal or am I overthinking it
I finally got through the whole Blender donut tutorial after about 3 weeks of messing up the sprinkles like 12 times, and now I feel stuck. I started it back in early March, watched Andrew's videos over and over, and by the end my donut looked pretty close to his, but when I opened a blank file to make something of my own I just froze. Here is what got me thinking though, a guy in my Discord said you should do the donut tutorial 3 times before touching anything else, and another guy said that is a huge waste of time and you should just start making bad models right away and learn from the mess. I get both sides, the repeating thing makes my tools feel automatic, but the other thing is I have been in tutorial land for almost a month and I have not made one single thing that is actually mine. My friend Maya in Portland said she skipped the donut completely and just started modeling a mug, and she is way better than me already, which kinda stings. So what worked for you guys, did you redo the basics until they felt easy or did you just jump in and let things look bad for a while?
