Took me 6 hours to make one simple round bar twist

I needed a 12 inch twisted bar for a railing bracket. Thought it would take maybe 30 minutes tops. First try I heated too wide and the twist came out loose and ugly. Then I tried again but my tongs slipped on the third turn and the bar bent sideways. After 4 failed attempts I finally got the heat right on just a 3 inch section and cranked it tight. Has anyone else had a simple twist turn into an all day project?

Bet @simonl86 was the one who threw the bar - I'm just glad you didn't give up on it.

...wait, six hours for ONE twist? That's insane (and also, I'm weirdly impressed you stuck with it). I would've thrown the bar across the shop after attempt number three, honestly. The part about your tongs slipping on the third turn - that just sounds like a nightmare, and I've had that exact thing happen where you feel the bar start to roll and you know it's all gone wrong. But four failed attempts? Man, you have more patience than I do. I think most of us have a "one more try and I'm done" limit, and you clearly blew right past that.
