That peen angle mistake on a rail spike hook cost me 3 hours

I was finishing up a batch of hooks in my garage shop last Tuesday and set my cross peen angle wrong on the first one, figured it would straighten out during the bend. It ended up twisting the whole shank sideways and I had to reheat and rework it from scratch, which killed my whole evening. Has anyone else just stopped mid-project to re-set their hammer angle after a slip like that, or am I the only one who stubbornly pushes through?

Push through and pray every time. It's the blacksmith version of "it'll buff out" lol. Three hours is rough though, that's a whole movie and a pizza wasted on one hook.

Did the hook at least survive so you can frame it as a trophy for your suffering? Three hours is basically a free trial of enlightenment with a worse ticket price.
