That $150 power hammer attachment was a complete waste

I bought one of those bolt-on power hammer attachments for my bench grinder off an online auction. Spent $150 and maybe 4 hours trying to get it to work right. The thing bent every piece of mild steel I fed through it, like it was punishing me for being cheap. Did anyone else fall for these gimmicks, or do I just need to save up for the real deal at the next hammer-in?
