Talked to an old farrier about hammer weight, now I'm second guessing my whole anvil setup
He said if you can't hit the same spot 50 times blindfolded with a 2 pound hammer, a 4 pound head is just doing damage twice as fast, and after he walked off I realized my last three projects in the shop outside Tulsa all have uneven taper lines... has anyone else switched down a size and had to relearn their rhythm?

Man, that old farrier knew what he was talking about. I dropped to a 2.5 pounder years back and my tapers finally started matching up.
