Switched from a coal forge to propane in my Wichita garage and I can finally see what I'm doing
Been running a little coal setup in my Wichita garage for about 6 months and the smoke was killing me, plus I could never tell when the steel hit the right color in that dim light. Picked up a used propane forge off a guy in Derby for $250 and the difference is night and day, I can actually see the orange and yellow now instead of guessing through all that soot. Fire scale is way down too, I'm saving on sandpaper alone. Anyone else make the switch and miss the smell of coal, or is that just me?
Wait, you dropped $250 on a used forge in Derby and you're asking if anyone misses the coal smell? That piney sulfur smell is half the reason I keep a sack of coal in the corner. Good deal on the propane though, being able to actually see the color beats choking on smoke any day.
