Picked a hand-crank blower over a propane forge blower for my shop in Oklahoma City

Figured the propane blower would be easier, but after 6 months the hand-crank setup has saved me $200 on fuel and hasn't failed once, anyone else stick with old school gear over modern stuff?

...wait hold up, you're telling me a hand crank saved you $200 on fuel in just 6 months? That's wild, I wouldn't have thought the gas savings would stack up that fast with a manual setup. Guess those propane blowers really do suck through the gas faster than I realized.

Manual control" is the real key there. Propane blowers just waste gas trying to keep up with themselves.

You ever try dialing in the air mix on those propane blowers? I had the same debate a few years back and went with a hand crank for my little welding setup. The thing that really sold me was how the manual control let me fine-tune the airflow way better than any gas blower I'd used before. Plus not having to worry about the regulator freezing up in cold weather was a huge bonus around here.
