Furnace liner down to the last few bricks, bought fireclay instead of replacing
After 14 years my forge liner finally cracked through and I had to pick between ripping it all out or patching it with wet fireclay, went with the patch since it only ran me $18 and three firings later it's holding strong, has anyone else stretched a liner way past its lifespan?
My 1978 F100 has a cracked exhaust manifold I've been "temporarily" patching with JB Weld since 2019. Got pulled over in Tennessee last summer, cop asked about the smell, I told him it was the forge smell from my shop. He didn't buy it, but let me go anyway. That truck will outlive me and the manifold will outlive the truck at this rate.
