Why I stopped using those window decals and switched to paracord

Everyone pushes the stick-on decals but here in Portland we get so much rain that they peeled off my sliding door within 2 months and a robin hit it anyway. I strung paracord across the glass at 4 inch gaps and have not had a single strike since March. Anyone else find something that holds up better in wet weather?
