Why does nobody talk about how those UV decals just stop working after a few months
I put those bird strike prevention decals on my big living room window back in April, the ones that reflect UV light birds can see. Today a robin slammed into the glass right next to one of them, and I realized the decal has faded to almost clear. Are these things supposed to be replaced every season or did I just buy the wrong kind?

Got a pack of those UV decals a few years back and stuck them on the patio door. Worked great for about two months until my neighbor's cat started staring at the glass like it was a nature documentary. I think the decals actually attracted the cat because they reflected weirdly in the morning sun. Last I saw, they were all curled up at the edges and looked like old packing tape. I just let the cat sit there now, it's cheaper than buying new decals every season.

Man, I feel your pain. I stuck a whole sheet of those UV decals on my sliding glass door last summer, thinking I was being a hero for the local birds. Fast forward to this spring, and a finch just flew straight through the spot where one used to be, totally faded and useless. Mine got all cloudy and brittle too from the sun, not even clear, just gross looking. I think these things are basically designed to be disposable, like a yearly chore you gotta remember to do. Ended up just buying a roll of those static cling window films instead, the kind that create a patterned grid, and they've held up way better.
