Wasted $50 on those fancy window decals that birds are supposed to see
Tbh I bought a pack of prismatic bird strike decals off Amazon thinking they'd be the fix, but a chickadee still smacked into the glass right next to one this morning. Has anyone found a pattern or spacing that actually works for small birds?

Goodness, a chickadee hitting the glass right next to the decal? That's disheartening, I thought those were supposed to work. I've heard the spacing matters a whole lot more than the actual pattern, something about putting them no more than two inches apart so small birds don't think they can squeeze through. It might be worth trying a dense grid of simple dots or even just soap streaks on the outside of the glass, which sounds silly but I've seen it recommended by a wildlife rehabber I talked to.

Wait, youre saying the spacing is the real issue not the decal pattern itself? I always thought those big hawk silhouettes were supposed to work no matter where you put em, but I guess the science backs up what youre saying. Definitely gonna look into the two inch rule for my own windows now, thanks for the heads up.
