Vent: My clear windows were a real problem until I tried something simple

For about two weeks, I was hearing that awful thump against my living room glass almost every day. I put up some basic window decals I got online, but they were small and birds kept hitting the spots in between. Last Tuesday, I finally taped up some old newspaper sheets in a grid pattern, covering most of the big pane. It's been five full days now without a single strike. Has anyone else had luck with a quick, cheap fix like newspaper, or should I look for a more permanent solution?

Used to think decals were enough, but yeah, newspaper grids work way better.

Oh man, the newspaper trick totally works! I did the same thing last spring with some leftover packing paper. I cut it into strips and made a big checkerboard on my patio door. It looked a little messy, but it stopped the cardinal that was always getting confused. I left it up for a whole season.

Nice, the grid pattern is smart. Did you notice if it messed with your light or view much, or was it fine for a few days? Just wondering if it's a good short-term fix or if it gets annoying.
