Vent: A neighbor told me my 'bird friendly' stickers were actually making things worse

I had those cute little hawk silhouette decals on my big living room window for about a year, thinking I was doing a solid. Then my neighbor, who's a big birder, saw a robin bounce off the glass and flat out told me, 'Those things are too far apart, birds just try to fly between them.' He was right (it was a real eye-opener). I checked online and learned you need patterns no more than 2 inches apart, or the birds don't see it as a solid barrier. I ripped them off that same day and put up some proper UV reflective tape strips instead. Has anyone else had a well-meaning fix totally backfire like that?

Oh man, that's the worst feeling. I once spent a whole weekend building this beautiful little toad habitat in my garden, only to find out the pond liner I used had some chemical in it that was actually bad for them. Felt like such a fool, you know? Had to tear the whole thing out and start over with a safe liner. Good on you for fixing it fast though.

Ugh, that "felt like such a fool" feeling is the absolute worst...

Is it though? I mean you poked some holes in a bag, big deal. Toads have survived way worse than a few bucks worth of spilled soil. People act like they accidentally launched a nuke instead of just making a little mess.
