Tried hanging CDs on my deck windows and the finches just aimed for them
Back in 2019 I strung about a dozen old CDs across the sliding door in my Fairfax backyard, thinking the shiny flash would scare birds off. What happened instead was the cardinals kept bonking into the glass right next to them, and I had to pick up two stunned finches off the patio in one morning. Later a neighbor told me the trick works better with vertical string lines so they see a solid barrier, not just a flash. Has anyone found a homemade setup that really keeps the smaller birds away, or do I just need to bite the bullet on window film?
