Saw those UV window decals at the Audubon center in Cleveland - do they actually work or just make us feel better?

Found a dead hummingbird at my kitchen window last week even with three decals stuck up there.

The decals are one of those things where the science is there but the real world results are spotty. Birds still hit windows for a million other reasons like reflections and lights at night, so it's not a perfect fix. Kind of reminds me of how people buy those little reusable shopping bags and then forget them in the car every single time we all feel better about trying but the actual impact is pretty small.
