Saw a chart about window strikes and migration season that made me rethink everything
I was reading a local birding blog for my area, the one run by the Audubon chapter in Charlotte. They posted this chart showing window strike reports by month, and the spike during spring and fall migration was insane. Like, over 60% of all reported strikes in our county happened in just those two periods. I always thought it was a year-round problem, which it is, but seeing the numbers laid out like that hit different. It makes total sense now that I think about it, with all the young birds and tired migrants moving through. I've doubled down on my window decals for this spring, but I'm wondering if I should be doing more during peak weeks. Has anyone else adjusted their prevention methods based on migration timing, or is it just me?

Yeah, the chart thing is wild. Made me look at my own place differently. Realized my feeder is way too close to the house. Birds come in for food, get spooked, and bam, straight into the glass. Moved it about thirty feet out into the yard last fall. Seems to help a lot.
