Put up those bird deterrent window decals 3 weeks ago and now I have a woodpecker attacking the same spot every morning at 6am instead

Learned that the UV reflective ones just attract different birds to the reflection, has anyone else had a decal backfire like this?

Well, that's just frustrating to hear. It sounds like you traded one problem for another. Have you tried changing the decal's position or angle to see if that stops the woodpecker from targeting that exact spot? I'm wondering if the decal is catching the morning sun just right and making a reflection that's more interesting to that bird than it was to the others.

Okay I hear you, but I see it a little differently. You said the decal is catching morning sun and making a reflection that's more interesting to the bird. But woodpeckers don't really care about pretty reflections, they're after bugs or just beating on something that sounds good. I bet that new spot is just a little louder or has a better echo, and the bird figured that out fast. Changing the angle of the decal might just make it hit a different part of your siding instead of stopping the problem. Honestly, I'd look at covering that whole section with something more solid for a while, not just moving a sticker around.
