My decal spacing debate for the big living room window

I read the 2-inch spacing rule for window decals to stop bird strikes. My living room window in Phoenix is huge, like 8 feet wide. I did the math and needed over 40 decals, which seemed crazy. My neighbor said just do every 4 inches and save money. Took me two months of going back and forth before I just bought the extra pack. Anyone else get stuck on the spacing thing?

Two months of debate is a whole mood. I got so stuck on the spacing for my sliding door I measured it three times, bought the wrong ones, then just stared at the box for a week. My partner finally asked if the decals were for looking at or for putting up.
