Had to pick between decals or a film for my big living room window

After a robin hit the glass twice in one week, I looked at options. It came down to buying 50 individual hawk silhouette decals for about $25 or a full roll of window film for $40. I went with the film because covering the whole 6-foot pane seemed better than just spots. Has anyone else used film and noticed if birds still try to fly near it?

Wait, you had a robin hit the glass twice in a single week? That poor bird must have had a real grudge against your living room. I tried the hawk decals once and they just looked like weird stickers. The film is a smart move, honestly. I've had it on my patio door for a year and it seems to work, but I still see birds land on the ledge right next to it. They don't fly into it, but they definitely don't treat it like a solid wall either.

Yeah, the hawk decals looking like weird stickers is so true, @the_daniel. I put up some dots and they just look like polka dots to me, but the birds seem to get it. They still hang out on the window frame like yours do, but at least they're not knocking themselves out anymore. It's a weird fix but I'll take it.

Film works fine for us... birds still perch nearby but no more thumps against the glass. Good call going with the film.
