Finally picked a pattern for my window decals
I was stuck between getting those dotted ones you see online or just cutting up some old window film into strips. I went with the film strips (it was leftover from a bathroom project, so free) and spaced them about 4 inches apart. It's been a full month now and I haven't had a single thump, which is huge because my living room window used to get one every other week. Has anyone else had luck with homemade solutions like this, or did you find you needed something more specific?

Tried something similar with leftover vinyl strips on my patio door. Honestly surprised how well the cheap fixes work sometimes.

Right? I used some leftover laminate on a squeaky floorboard and it's still holding up years later.

Oh nah, gotta push back on this one. My buddy tried the vinyl strip trick on his sliding door last summer and it was a disaster. The heat made the adhesive melt and it slid right off the track within a week. Then he had to scrape all that gummy residue off with a razor blade, took him hours. I'd rather just spend the $30 on a proper weatherstripping kit from the hardware store and know it's gonna last.
