Paid $35 for a 4K box set and the discs skipped like crazy

Picked up a complete series box set of a show I'd been hunting for, the packaging looked fine but discs 2 and 5 froze up every single rewatch. Cost me about $35 from a reseller on eBay, seller swore they were tested. Popped them in my player last Tuesday and got the spinning circle of death right at the season one finale. Anyone else get burned by used sets and end up just streaming the thing instead?
