My sister told me I watch shows wrong and now I can't stop thinking about it
So I was at my sister's place in Tampa about 3 weeks ago and we started a new show together, and I did my usual thing where I watch 4 episodes back to back and then dump the rest over the weekend. She paused it after episode 2 and goes, 'You're not watching it, you're just getting through it.' I got annoyed at first because who is she to tell me how to enjoy stuff. But she said when you blow through a whole season in 2 days, you forget the small stuff, like the side character's name or why a certain scene mattered later on. I tested it with a mystery show where the whole point is catching clues, and sure enough, I had missed like 3 things that came back at the end. So now I watch 2 episodes max a night and actually sit with it for a bit before moving on. It feels slower but I remember way more of what happened, which never used to be the case. Do you all space your shows out or just run through the whole season in one shot?
Your sister actually did you a favor whether you wanted it or not. Ran into this same wall with a crime drama a couple years back, blew through 10 episodes in one weekend and could not tell you who the killer was or why the last scene even mattered. What fixed it for me was the 2 a night rule plus keeping my phone in the other room, because half the problem was me scrolling during the slow parts and then wondering why nothing stuck. Two episodes a night is the sweet spot, any more and the names start sliding off. Give it a month and you will not want to go back, the shows just hit different when you let them breathe.
