My brother bet me $50 I could not sit through 3 seasons of The Wire, and here I am on season 4
About two years back my brother bet me $50 I would quit The Wire before episode 4 because the pacing was too slow for me. I took that bet, dragged through the first few episodes on my laptop in my apartment in Raleigh, and honestly I almost gave up around episode 3. But somewhere near the end of season 1 something clicked and I finished the whole thing in about 3 weeks, then paid him back by making him watch all of Breaking Bad. Now I tell everyone the same thing he told me: give a slow show 3 or 4 episodes before you write it off, because some of the best ones do not hook you fast. What show did you almost quit early and end up loving?
