I finally gave that slow-burn show a real chance after a long flight

I was stuck on a plane from Chicago to Los Angeles with a broken screen, so my seatmate offered to share her tablet. She was watching this quiet drama about a family in Maine, and I usually hate those. But after seeing three episodes with her, I got totally hooked by the small details, like how they showed a character fixing a boat engine. Now I'm halfway through the second season at home. Has anyone else been surprised by a show they thought they would skip?

You mentioned "Sometimes the best stuff finds you when you're not looking" and yeah maybe that works for some people. My buddy once lost his wallet at a gas station and spent two days tearing his house apart. Turns out it was on top of his car the whole time, blew off while he was driving home. Some guy found it in a ditch three miles away and mailed it back to him with everything still inside. So I guess sometimes stuff finds you even when you weren't looking for it, but mostly you just end up retracing your steps for two days.
