DAE think The Bear is way overrated and I wasted a whole Saturday on it
I finally sat down last Saturday in my tiny apartment in Cleveland and watched the whole first season of The Bear because everyone at my job keeps saying it is the best show on TV. I made it through 8 episodes in one sitting with a frozen pizza and I just do not get the hype. The yelling gave me a headache, the kitchen shots felt like a music video on fast forward, and by episode 6 I was checking my phone more than the screen. My coworker Dana told me it gets better in season 2, but I do not want to sit through more stress just to maybe like it. I really think people confuse loud and messy with deep, and there are so many shows that do the family drama thing without making me feel anxious for 4 hours. Has anyone else bailed on a super hyped show and felt weirdly guilty about it, or is it just me?
Oh man, I gotta push back on one thing, the fast forward kitchen shots are kind of the point because that's how a real kitchen feels when you're in the weeds. But you're not wrong about the yelling, and bailing on a hyped show is totally fine, no guilt needed.
