Neighbor told me to stop using my bungee cords for my panniers

He said they'd snap in the cold and sure enough last January my grocery bag hit the pavement on 5th Street and I had to chase down a runaway loaf of bread, has anyone switched to Rok straps or just me?

That bungee cord thing is a nightmare honestly. Same exact thing happened to me last winter with a bag of oranges, watched them roll right into a storm drain. Rok straps are definitely a step up, they don't get stiff like rubber does when it drops below freezing. I swapped mine out after that day and haven't had a single strap pop loose since. Really makes you appreciate a simple solid connection after chasing your groceries down the street. Worth the switch for sure.

Wait, hold on... you said a whole bag of oranges? Like, not just one or two but the entire thing just dumped into a storm drain? That's brutal, I would've been standing there watching them disappear one by one into the darkness probably yelling something stupid. I've had my bungee cords snap a few times but never a full on citrus funeral like that, makes me think maybe I should just start carrying a backpack and skip the whole pannier drama entirely.
