My old coworker's critique on my bike lights was right
Back in 2018, I used to commute on a dark stretch of Route 9 near Albany and thought two small blinkies were plenty. My coworker Mike, a 30-year roadie, told me my rear light was useless because it was pointed too low and not visible from a car's height. I switched to a 100-lumen seatpost light angled up a bit, and within a week a truck driver actually paused to let me merge, which never happened before. Has anyone else gotten gear advice that felt like a jab but turned out to save your hide?
