Finally biked to work 5 days straight without missing a single day
I've been commuting by bike from my apartment near Elm Park to the office on 7th Avenue for about 6 months now, but last week I hit a personal milestone: 5 days in a row, no excuses. The key was getting a cheap set of fenders from the hardware store downtown for $12, which made rainy mornings way less miserable. Has anyone else found one simple upgrade that suddenly made bike commuting click for them?

Personal milestone" feels a little heavy for riding a bike to work for a week, no? I mean, congrats and all, but it's not like you summited Everest. The fenders are smart though, I guess a $12 fix beats showing up to a meeting looking like a drowned rat. I just think people overthink bike commuting, it's really just pedaling and not hitting a car door.

Lol fair point @ruby561, but for some of us just getting out the door consistently is the real win. I did a similar thing when I started, just kept it simple and focused on not crashing into anything lol.
