Vent: Tried indexing a 9-speed Campy setup blind and regretted it for 2 hours
So I was working on a customer's bike last Saturday at the shop, a vintage steel frame with a Campagnolo Mirage groupset. I figured I could just eyeball the cable tension and shift the rear derailleur without chasing the chain. What a mess. It took me over 2 hours to get the indexing dialed because I skipped my usual step of setting the high limit first. Now I've got a rule: never touch a Campy rear derailleur unless I've got a fresh shift cable and a Park Tool DAG-2 handy. Anyone else find that patience pays off more than speed with older Italian groups?
