Traded my torque wrench for a beam style after 12 years

Always thought click-type torque wrenches were the only way to go but a buddy showed me his beam style on a carbon frame and I had to admit the click ones can drift. Has anyone else switched and found they actually prefer the old beam style?

Jumped on that bandwagon last year after my click type decided to play games with me on a carbon steerer tube. Snapped a bolt clean off because I couldn't feel the damn thing slipping. Beam style just shows you the real number, no guessing if the internal spring is worn out. It's not flashy or fancy but it works every single time. Plus I can calibrate it by just looking at it which beats sending a clicker back to the factory.

Just looking at it" is exactly why I went beam style too. It's like my dad's old kitchen scale from the 70s, the one with the spring and the little arm that moves. No batteries, no digital tricks, just pure mechanical honesty. I've noticed the same thing with my car's thermostat, the old mercury one is rock solid compared to the new digital ones that glitch every winter. Sometimes the old ways just work better because there's nothing to break or lie to you.
