That customer who asked me to align his spokes with a laser level

Ngl, this guy rolled into the shop last spring with a brand new road bike and insisted I use his laser level to true the wheels. I told him it wouldn't work but he stood there for 20 minutes watching me hold the laser against the rim. He paid $40 for the peace of mind though. Anyone else get weird requests like that?

Honestly, I had a guy once who wanted me to measure his tire pressure with a torque wrench because he thought the gauge wasn't precise enough. I just went along with it, used the torque wrench to click the valve stem, and he was happy as a clam. Ended up getting a good tip for playing along with his weird idea.

No way, he actually put a torque wrench on a valve stem? That is a new level of overthinking right there. I'm sitting here trying to picture the sound it would make - just a sad little click with no pressure release. You must have had a straight face of stone to pull that off without cracking up.
