My shop partner called my brake bleed process 'ancient' and I got defensive

He showed me his syringe method on a stubborn Shimano lever, and it fixed a spongy feel I'd been fighting for an hour. Anyone have a favorite syringe brand that doesn't leak?

That "ancient" comment hits home because it's easy to get stuck in our ways. I've seen the same thing with people refusing to try tubeless tires for years. Sometimes the new way is just better.

Totally get what you mean @sean_hunt61. I was the same with tubeless, fought it for ages. Finally tried it last season and it was a total game changer, no more pinch flats.

Yeah the "stuck in our ways" thing is real. I held onto rim brakes forever because that's what I learned on and I figured discs were just extra weight for no reason. Then I finally swapped on a used bike I picked up and it honestly changed how I ride in the wet. Now I can't imagine going back even though I fought it for like two years. Sometimes you just gotta admit the old way was fine but the new way is actually better like you said.
