My chain snapped 12 miles out on Route 9 and I had a quick link buried in my bag the whole time
Riding home last Thursday on Route 9 near the old mill, my chain let go on a climb and I went down hard on my knee. Stood there for 10 minutes kicking myself because I had swapped to an 11-speed setup two months ago and forgot to refresh the spare quick link in my saddle bag. Found one rattling around at the bottom under a tire lever, got it on in about 4 minutes, and limped the rest of the way home. What is everyone else carrying for trailside break fixes, and do you actually check your spares before a long ride or just trust they are there?
