I finally asked a regular at my shop why he always brings his own grease

He said, 'Because the shop stuff is fine for most, but my old Campy groupset needs this specific 00 grade.' It made me realize how many customers might have unspoken preferences. Do you guys ever get specific requests like that?

That logbook idea is good, but we found it gets messy fast. We just put a small note right on their customer profile in the computer system. It's the same idea, but it doesn't get lost and everyone on staff can see it.

We keep a small logbook behind the counter for stuff like this. If a customer mentions a specific grease, tape, or even a weird torque setting, we jot it down with their name. It takes two seconds and the next time they come in, we already know. That old Campy guy would get his 00 grade ready before he even walked in. It makes people feel heard and saves so much time.
