Hot take: Park Tool PCS-10 beat my homemade stand on a bottom bracket job
I built a wood stand in my garage in Tucson two years ago and thought it was fine until I tried pulling a seized bottom bracket on a 2008 Trek last Tuesday. The bike kept tipping over because my clamp only grabbed the seatpost, so I borrowed a Park Tool PCS-10 from a buddy and that tripod base plus the frame clamp held everything solid. Took me 20 minutes instead of the hour I fought with the wood one last time I tried this. Anyone else here made the switch, or do you have a cheaper stand that actually holds up to real torque?

I was all about the DIY stand life too until my seatpost clamp slipped mid crank pull and I almost ate it in the garage. Switched to a cheap Feedback stand with a frame clamp and it's a night and day thing, the tripod holds when you're really leaning on a stuck bb. Still got the wood one hanging on the wall for memories though.
