Hot take: Chain lube isn't just marketing hype after all
I used to buy the cheap stuff, but my chains started rusting too quick. Now I spend a bit more and it actually lasts, go figure.

Wondering where that line is though, @noah_smith. Like, when does "spend a bit more" just become overspending on a brand name? My cheap can opener was a nightmare, but my friend's fifty dollar one seems just as good as my fifteen dollar one that works fine. Feels like the sweet spot is pretty narrow for a lot of things.

Oh man, this is so true with kitchen stuff too. I bought a really cheap vegetable peeler once and the handle snapped off in a potato. My nice one (you know, the kind that costs like eight bucks) has been going strong for years now, it's kinda wild.
