Honestly, I swapped from a standard 4mm hex to a ball-end for tight stem bolts and it cut my time in half.

You really saved that much time? I've tried both and the ball end just slips on me when I need real torque. Susan_Ward, your buddy must have had better luck than me. I stick with the regular hex for a solid bite.

Read that ball ends work better for quick work in tight spots, but you lose torque for sure. A guy on a different forum said you gotta keep them perfectly clean or they slip even more than normal. I tried one once and it was fine for light stuff but stripped out when I really leaned on it. Regular hex seems like the safer bet if you're putting real force on it.
