Found a trick for truing wheels at the bike co-op in Portland
Saw this guy use a zip tie as a makeshift truing stand indicator instead of buying the Park Tool one. Anyone else rig up cheap solutions for wheel work?

Friend of mine tried this with a thick ziptie and it worked fine for a minor wobble. He said it slipped a little on a badly bent rim though so your mileage may vary.

Did you ever find the zip tie slipped around a little while you were spinning the wheel? I used to think you needed the real tool, but after trying this once it actually holds steady enough.
