Finally tried a torque wrench on carbon seatposts after a customer's snapped
Used to just go by feel, but after seeing a $300 post fail, I checked and was over-tightening by almost 4 Nm. Anyone else have a go-to torque spec they always double-check now?

Over-tightening by almost 4 Nm" is exactly why I bought a wrench. Read a forum post where a guy said his creaking seatpost was actually a crack starting, all from guesswork. Now I check the spec every single time.

Marked my wrench handle with a paint pen at the exact Nm setting for my bike... takes all the guesswork out completely.

Specs are a guide, but sometimes you just need to feel what's tight enough.
