Brake pad swap at Red Hook changed my mind on disc rotors
I was dead set against hydraulic disc brakes for year, thought cable pull was fine. Then a guy at the Red Hook Crit last fall let me wrench his bike after a crash, tangling with a seized piston in the rain changed my whole take. The mess, the bleeding kit, the bleeding edge of that system, it made me respect the simplicity of my old rim brakes more, not less. But watching him swap pads in 2 minutes flat, I get why shops push discs for commuters. Anyone else develop a weird loyalty to a brake type after a specific event?

Two minutes for a pad swap in the rain sounds like pure magic to me, I've spent way longer just finding my allen key.
