My hairdresser mom's $4 wide tooth comb beat my $38 detangling brush

I laughed at her when she handed me that cheap plastic thing from the drugstore in Dayton last week, but it glided through my wet tangles in about 20 seconds while my fancy brush just yanked and squeaked, so now I'm wondering what other overpriced hair stuff I've been fooled by.
