TIL that air drying my brushes flat beat standing them up in a cup
I used to keep my makeup brushes standing upright in a jar on my vanity, and after about 4 months the glue in two of them got soft and a bunch of bristles came out in my hand. Last week I switched to laying them flat on a clean towel after washing, and the difference is night and day. Water was running down into the ferrule when they stood up, which is what broke down the glue over time. It sounds small but losing a $22 brush hurts, so now I tell everyone I know. Has anyone else had brushes fall apart from storing them the wrong way?
Learned this the hard way too and it cost me a good blush brush. The water runs down the bristles and just sits in that little metal part, and nobody tells you that's what kills the glue. Now I flick mine a few times and lay them on a towel with the heads hanging off the edge of the counter so they dry at a little angle (so air gets under them, you know?). Lost two brushes before I figured it out and I was so mad. My sister still stores hers in a cup and I keep telling her to stop but she won't listen.
