Showerthought: matching my foundation shade at the counter took 45 minutes instead of 5
I went to the mall in Columbus thinking I'd grab a bottle in ten, but the lighting made me look three shades off and the girl kept bringing out testers. Forty five minutes and four swatches on my jaw later I finally found one that didn't turn me orange. How do you all check your shade without standing under those store lights forever?
The natural light thing is smart but the real problem is the store lights plus the testers being old and oxidized. What finally worked for me is getting a few samples and wearing each one for a full day, checking it in my car mirror, by a window at home, and under the bathroom light. The one that looked best at the counter turned orange by 4pm once it hit my face oils. So now I grab samples, do the day test, then order online. The counter swatch only tells you how it looks for the first ten minutes.
