PSA: The little spatula in your at-home wax kit is not optional and I learned that the hard way
I melted a pot of hard wax in my kitchen in Jersey City and thought I could just stir it with a popsicle stick from the craft drawer, no big deal. Big mistake. The stick snapped in half and left splinters floating in the wax, which I then smeared on my own upper lip because I was already running late for a 7pm shift. My esthetician friend took one look at my face and asked what I did, then told me the metal spatula matters because it holds heat evenly and lets you flick the wax off in one motion instead of dragging it. I sat there for 40 minutes picking wood chunks off my skin. If you wax at home, just buy the $6 spatula, and tell me if you've ever fished anything weird out of your own wax pot.
