Microplastics vs. big trash, which cleanup should we actually focus on?

I spent 45 minutes at Santa Monica picking up bottle caps and straws last Saturday, then realized the sand was full of tiny plastic bits I couldn't grab. Two volunteers argued about whether we should chase the small stuff or just haul out the obvious junk. Has anyone found a method for microplastics that doesn't take forever, or do we just accept the limits?

Guess we need tweezers and a whole lot of free time for that one.

Tweezers would take forever, a magnifying glass and a steady hand might do it faster.
